Schönbrunn Palace

The historic summer residence of the imperial family is one of Europe's largest Baroque palace complexes. The land had been held in the possession of the Habsburgs since 1569. The Habsburgs stayed in the numerous chambers that a great imperial family needed in addition to the formal staterooms. The rooms that are shown to the public on guided tours are mostly furnished in the Rococo style. Many of the walls and ceilings are covered with white-lacquered surfaces with ornamentation and gold leaf. St. Stephen’s Cathedral

The origins are Romanesque in styling but the structure has been rebuilt throughout the centuries and its detailing combined later Gothic and Baroque elements as well.
